July 4th 2026: The Grave House celebrates the Quarter Millennial for the United States, as well as the Town’s Bicentennial!

July 4th 2026 brought townsfolk and visitors together to celebrate the historic weekend, starting with the fireworks on the 2nd, followed by a concert on the Green the next night, finishing with the July 4th parade and a warm welcome at the oldest house in town, the Deacon John Grave homestead.

On display in the oldest room of the Deacon’s house, guests found an enormous 1876 American flag in remarkable condition for its 150 years of service.

Costumed docents offered tours and provided information about the property. A continuous lineup of visitors took advantage of the opportunity to see the 1876 flag and to tour the historic house and grounds.

Many of the visitors found the interactive trivia an interesting challenge, testing their knowledge of town and country at this notable point in history.
