On June 13th, townsfolk and local dignitaries gathered for a ceremony in front of the Madison Historical Society’s exhibition hall and administrative offices at the old Lee’s Academy.

The day’s event continued the town’s celebration of its separation from Guilford and establishment as an independent community, called Madison.

At the completion of the ceremony and after attendees enjoyed refreshment, docents at the Deacon John Grave house welcomed guests for tours of the Deacon’s house. Visitors could wander the wildflower walk and delight in the perennial gardens, beautifully maintained by the Garden Club of Madison.
