Whereas Nathaniel Fowler of Guilford in the County of New Haven
Did on the 1^st Day of February 1781 make information in written [to]
me the Subscribing Authority that on or about the 20^th Day of January
Last was brought into this State from Long Isand a place in the possession
And under the Control of the Enemy of the United State a Large
Quantity of Brittish goods wares & marchandize the Capt …
& Boat to the Informant unknown & that Said goods wares &
marchandize ~~and marchandize~~ are now in the Care & Keeping
of Simri Bradleyy of Said Guilford in his Dwelling House in Said
Guilford Contrary to one Certain Law of this State Entitled An
Act in addition to & in alteration of an Act Entitled an Act
more Effectually to prevent illict Trade praying that a warrant
may be Isued according to Law as per Information on file may
fully appear and whereas it is Suggested to me by Said Informant
that the Said goods wares & Marchandize are with held & …
Deposited in the Dwelling House of the Said Simri Bradly
To the Sheriff of the County of New Haven his Deputy or either
of the Constables of the Town of Guilford with Said County …
You are therefore in the Name of the Governor & Company
of this State hereby & Inpowered forthwith to proceed to the
Dwelling House of the Said Simri Bradly in Guilford & in the Day
Time if need be to brake & enter Said House & Seise and take
Said goods wares & marchandize if to be found, into your Custody
and Cause the Same to be apprised at their Just value in Lawful
money, and an Inventory thereof to be made by Capt Elias Grave
and Capt Gilbert Dudly both of Guilford, who are by me appointed
for that porpose according to Law and the Said goods wares &
Marchandize to hold safe Custody until Delivered in due
Course of Law, thereof fale not & due return make, Bond of
Proceution according to Law being given Dated in Guilfordthe first Day of February 1781
